Who wants some hum-drum, half-baked beauty images that barely mumble, let alone speak?! Not my clients, that’s for sure! I will make sure that we produce images that show-off your work in its best possible light!

High-End Retouching

I've spent the last 13 years training myself in a variety of retouching methods and have come up with my own signature style which is particularly good for showing off the subtitles of makeup as an art.

Are you tired of seeing your beautifully crafted work ruined by photographers that turn your models into plastic, blur the details, or change the colours? I've worked carefully with makeup artists over the years to understand what's important, so that it's YOUR work and YOUR product that the viewer sees - not the photographer's idea of what your makeup "should" look like.

Check out the video below to see how I normally go about retouching my images.

Beauty FAQ

1. How customizable is my beauty package?

You can build upon my standard package and add as many images, rush deliveries or time in studio as you like! The sky really is the limit!!

2. Why are beauty images so expensive?

Well, due to what the Barbadian market can bare, you're mostly paying for my time during the retouching process. This ranges between 1-3 hours per image depending on the amount of work the image requires, and then you're paying for my expertise and creative approach and the years of training I’ve put into my craft.

3. Where do you shoot?

I do studio sessions at my loft studio “The Hayloft” in Yorkshire Grove, Christ Church, but I can shoot anywhere in Barbados, or the Caribbean once travel expenses are covered. If you are outside of Barbados please contact me, I would still love to work with you!

4. Who takes the photos?

Me and only me! I’m a one-man show who will occasionally hire a studio assistant, but I am the only person who shoots client work under the banner of “Logan C Thomas”.

5. What color backdrops can we use?

We can use almost any color backdrop you want for your headshots. The standard white, grey, and black backdrops will always be in stock, but there will be extra charges if we decide to go beyond those three. If you would like a specific color backdrop to match your brand or identity there will be a fee to purchase a specific color/size backdrop. I need at least a weeks notice to get the specific backdrop and availability will determine whether or not it’s possible.

6. What type of lighting will be used?

Lighting is the foundation of any great photograph and I am capable of lighting in all sorts of ways. In order to get the most out of working with me we must discuss and decide beforehand the look and feel that you want your images to have. Whether it’s a simple softly-lit portrait or something wild and colorful, it’s important that we discuss it so I can plan the look and feel you want long before you ever step into the studio.

7. Do you take Beauty photographs using natural light?

Absolutely! Even though I love the control I get while using strobes my favorite light is natural light - that's one of the main reasons I chose my loft studio! We've got a great south - facing window that provides a beautifully diffuse natural light.

8. What kind of camera do you use?

Ok this is something I get asked ALOT. There are a lot of photographers that are really into gear, but I’m not one of them - my tools are all professional-grade and that’s good enough for me (you can be the judge as to whether or not I my work speaks to that). Digital sensor technology has reached a point where the difference in quality, once the photographer is using a full-frame DSLR makes little to no difference to the quality of images the camera produces. The photographer you choose matters much, much more than the camera, that’s for sure.

With that out of the way, I work with a full-frame Nikon D750 for all of my commercial work and though it’s no medium-format Hasselblad with a digital back, it more than adequately delivers the quality that my clients and I need.

9. Will there be makeup and hairstyling provided?

For those who aren’t professional makeup artists or hair stylists, it’s important for you to know that makeup and hair are not services I offer, however I work with many local makeup artists and we can arrange one that will suit your needs best after you’ve booked. Makeup and hair should be done before arrival at the studio.

10. How many looks do I get?

You can change the look as many times as you like during our session, however let’s not forget that the bronze studio session is only 60 minutes. Changing can take quite a bit of time, so my recommendation is to work smart - changing lip-colour or building on the foundation of a previous look is an effective way to get completely different looks in a short time. Additional time may be added to your session for a fee.

11. How many images are taken during the shoot?

Gone are the days where it’s necessary to limit the number of photos taken during a shoot! If I were still shooting film then this would be a necessity, however with digital imaging there’s no reason to put a cap on it. Each person I photograph brings their own energy and sometimes I’ll shoot more with one person than another, that being said I take between 100-200 images per 60 minute session so don’t worry, there will be plenty of great images to choose from. Oftentimes my clients exclaim that choosing is the hardest part of the process!

12. How are images delivered?

Proofs and final images are delivered via a private gallery on my website for simple and easy access, and selection. Final images are delivered as JPEGs at 6000px 300dpi sRGB colour space, however if you prefer an alternative delivery format please let me know.

13. What is your turn-around time?

My standard turn-around time is 1 week after my clients make their final selections. If however my client needs some images rush delivered that can be arranged for a fee.

14. What are my rights to the images?

The fees for beauty photographs include image licensing which permits my clients to use the images in any media (digital or print), in any country, for an unlimited amount of time, however I reserve all rights to the images and may use them for my own purposes without restriction. That being said, I do request that I am credited in every use of my images. For social media “@logancthomas” and in print “© Logan C Thomas” or “Photography by Logan C Thomas”.

15. Scheduling/Rescheduling/Cancelation/Refund policy

here are no refunds for any payments for any reason whatsoever unless I have made a mistake.
Due to the complexity of scheduling many shoots and the time preparing and setting up for a shoot I have a strict cancelation/rescheduling policy.
Deposits and payments are non-refundable unless there was an error on my part. Shoots can be rescheduled, but if you want to reschedule with less than 48 hour notice the fee is $100 USD. This fee is waived if an act of God causes rescheduling to be necessary.
It is important that you know, when booking a session you are agreeing to these terms, so hopefully you read this so that there are no misunderstandings and we avoid any animosity.

16. Do you offer a complete buyout of images shot?

For international brands that have their own retouching team I do offer the option to buyout all of the images from a specific shoot. For a 4-5 hour (half-day) shoot I offer the buyout rate of $650 USD. For a 8-10 hour (full-day) shoot I charge a rate of $1000 USD. I will deliver Nikon RAW (.nef) images upon receipt of payment only.

17. Where were you formally trained?

I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Commercial and Fine Art photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, Georgia, in 2014.

18. DO yOU OFFER DISCOUNTS FOR LOCALS?

Sorry! No can do! My prices are fixed, whether you’re Dolce and Gabbana or operating out of your home-office I’ve made a point of never altering my prices based on my customer’s nationality or their brand’s visibility. HOWEVER I do negotiate discounted rates to repeat clients that want to build a long-term business relationship.
