Business Portrait FAQ

Where do you shoot?

I do studio sessions at my studio in Hastings, Christ Church, but I can shoot anywhere in Barbados (or the Caribbean) for an additional fee. I do have a minimum location shoot fee within Barbados of $100, subject to additional fees commensurate to what is required. If you are outside of Barbados please contact us as I would still love to work with you!

Who takes the photos?

Me and only me! I’m a one-man show who will occasionally hire a studio assistant, but I am the only person who shoots client work under the banner of “Logan C Thomas”.

What color backdrops can we use?

We can use almost any color backdrop you want for your headshots. The standard white, grey, and black backdrops will always be in stock, but there will be extra charges if we decide to go beyond those three. If you would like a specific color backdrop to match your brand or identity there will be a fee to purchase a specific color/size backdrop. I need at least 2 weeks notice to get the specific backdrop and availability will determine whether or not it’s possible.

Do you do environmental Portraits?

Environmental portraits are those where I come to your location and photograph you at work. Yes, we can do environmental shots, but environmental portraits are much more elaborate, and so I must charge additional fees due to the logistical considerations that must be taken into account. Please click the "contact me" button above so we can sort out the details.

What type of lighting will be used?

Lighting is the foundation of any great photograph and I am capable of lighting a headshot or portrait in a multitude of ways. In order to get the most out of working with me we must discuss and decide beforehand the look and feel that you want your images to have. Whether it’s a simple softly-lit portrait or something wild and colorful, it’s important that we discuss it so I can plan the look and feel you want long before you ever step into the studio.

What kind of camera do you use?

Ok this is something I get asked ALOT. There are a lot of photographers that are really into gear, but I’m not one of them - my tools are all professional-grade and that’s good enough for me (you can be the judge as to whether or not I my work speaks to that). Digital sensor technology has reached a point where the difference in quality, once the photographer is using a full-frame DSLR makes little to no difference to the quality of images the camera produces. The photographer you choose matters much, much more than the camera, that’s for sure.
With that out of the way, I work with a full-frame Nikon D750 for all of my commercial work and though it’s no medium-format Hasselblad with a digital back, it more than adequately delivers the quality that my clients and I need.

Will there be makeup provided?

Makeup is not a service I offer, however I work with many local makeup artists and we can arrange one that will suit your needs best after you’ve booked. Makeup should be done before arrival at the studio.

How many images are taken during the shoot?

Gone are the days where it’s necessary to limit the number of photos taken during a shoot! If I were still shooting film then this would be a necessity, however with digital imaging there’s no reason to put a cap on it. Each person I photograph brings their own energy and sometimes I’ll shoot more with one person than another, that being said I typically take around 100 images per 30 minute session so don’t worry, there will be plenty of great images to choose from. Oftentimes my clients exclaim that choosing is the hardest part of the process!

How are images delivered?

Proofs and final images are delivered via a private gallery on my website for simple and easy access, and selection. Final images are delivered as JPEGs at 6000px 300dpi sRGB colour space, unless otherwise requested. RAW files are not delivered as standard but may be purchased for $75 an image.

How many looks do I get?

You can change your wardrobe as many times as you like during the session, however let’s not forget that your studio session is 60 minutes. Changing can take quite a bit of time, so my recommendation is to work smart - putting on, or taking off a jacket is an effective way to get a completely different look. We will discuss your outfit before the shoot to make sure you look your best and are on-brand! Additional time may be added to your session for a fee.

What is your turn-around time?

My standard practice is to deliver the private proofing gallery via email within 48 hours of our shoot. The final images will be delivered within one week after you’ve confirmed your final selections. Rush orders are possible for an additional fee of $25 per image.

What are my rights to the images?

Usage rights are granted on a case by case basis! Contact me for more information!

Scheduling/Rescheduling/Cancelation/Refund policy

There are no refunds for any payments for any reason whatsoever unless I have made a mistake.
Due to the complexity of scheduling many shoots and the time preparing and setting up for a shoot I have a strict cancelation/rescheduling policy.
For studio shoots, deposits and payments are non-refundable unless there was an error on my part. Shoots can be rescheduled, but if you want to reschedule with less than 48 hour notice the fee is $175.
It is important that you know, when booking a session you are agreeing to these terms, so hopefully you read this so that there are no misunderstandings and we avoid any animosity.

Are there any other costs?

There are no additional costs related to any sessions to get the product/services as described on the session booking page. You can optionally order additional product/services above and beyond the product/services related to the session you paid for. Additional product/services are optional and not required to get the described product/services for the session you pay for. All fees for rescheduling shoots are listed above and will not change after booking your session. There are no hidden or surprise fees.
I do need to charge for any incurred expenses. Unless you're doing an elaborate shoot that requires extra equipment, that will mean parking fees and other minor expenses if I am traveling to your location. If your shoot needs extra equipment, expendables, assistants or other expenses I’ll let you know the costs upfront after our first conversation.
